Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Lisa Mason pursued a Bachelors of Studio Art from Hunter College in 2012 before going to Howard University in Washington, D.C. to earn her Masters of Science in occupational therapy in 2015. She has been a licensed occupational therapist for almost two years, currently working in the acute care and outpatient setting of Richmond University Center in Staten Island. Lisa’s main goal when she decided to become an occupational therapist was to be in a health care profession where she could spend quality time with her patients and help them improve their quality of life in all aspects. Occupational therapy has proven to be one of the most holistic of health care professions, which requires sensitivity, understanding and compassion; all traits that Lisa values incredibly. As a skilled occupational therapist, no day for Lisa is the same. Her patients vary in age; she treats everyone from newborns to the elderly. Some diagnoses that she provides intervention for are prematurity, failure to thrive, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, stroke, COPD, congestive heart failure, etc. Lisa is proud to be an OT and hopes to branch out further in the OT world in the near future via local volunteering opportunities and missionary initiatives.
